At Hunterhound we have taken well over 14 years painstakingly researching bloodlines/pedigrees & networking with mentors in various countries to ensure we have imported lines that are sound in both temperament & health. Our foundation bitches have been imported from top Bloodhound breeders in Sweden & Belgium & semen has been carefully selected from outstanding dogs in the US....all this to help expand Australia's very limited gene pool. We ensure our breeding dogs are Hip & elbow dysplasia cleared with scores well below breed average, hearts cleared by cardiologist & DNA tested for Degenerative Myelopathy (DM).
At Hunterhound we are breeding for outstanding prospects in the show arena, lazy lounge lizards in pet homes, plus what these dogs were bred for, 'tracking' & 'man trailing'. A quality Bloodhound can be all of these! All our dogs are pets, first & foremost, they are allowed in the home & sleep inside. They all run together as a 'pack' and are NOT kept kennels/runs.
