Danika was a girl that was one in a million. She was the first female Grand Champion in Australia and only the second Samoyed Grand Champion – she was well qualified for it even before the title was introduced! It was to be another five years before any other bitch gained the title - and that was her sister (Peppa), followed quickly by her daughter (Kumatra). Since then her grand daughter (Elvira) has become the first female Supreme Champion in Australia and her daughter (Kumatra) has become the second female Supreme Champion .

For balance, type and movement there was really nothing that could regularly beat her. She was an absolutely stunning package. When it came to Best Of Breed she won many more than she lost. Danika looked so small against the dogs that it was hard to believe that she could so easily out move them. But she did so with such strength and power that you realised how superbly constructed she was under all that beauty. You didn’t take Danika around the ring, you just followed her lead and tried not to stuff it up.

Danika hit the ring with Baby Puppy In Show at her first outing and never looked back. In fact, that same judge gave her the last Best In Show she would win, many years later. When she suddenly left us at 16 years old it was a terrible day – but this is true when we lose any of our sammy family.

Danika left behind a legacy of Supreme Champions, Grand Champions, BISS winners and BIS winners that we could never have dreamed possible. But we were at least lucky enough to have and to know her for that short time.
