My commencement into the dog world was with a Rough Collie in 1968 when residing in the UK. Competing mainly in obedience achieving some top winning scores and then competing successfully at conformation shows. I then went on to breed and show the offspring under the kennel name of Glynchin. In 1975 after migrating to Australia, and purchasing my first Basenji for show and breeding, Debrak Basenji’s was born. I have had great success with this breed winning Best In Shows and numerous classes in show as well as Best In Groups, runner-up in Groups and very many class in shows. Having also campaigned Pharaoh Hounds and obtained the first Best In Group in Western Australia with a Pharaoh Bitch and titling the first male in this state. A Mini Smooth Dachshund joined the family for my young daughter who campaigned this dog to its title winning a Best In Show as well as numerous classes. In 1997 I brought the first Brindle Basenji’s into Australia through imported semen and an adult bitch. July 1997 the AI litter was born and with a litter from my imported bitch they became the first Australian bred brindles to gain their titles and the first brindle bitches titled in Australia. The first being titled was an imported Male in NSW in1998.
Commenced judging in 1990 with the Hound Group, and then followed with Working (Herding), Gundog, Toys, Terriers and finally Non Sporting. I have judged for Lexington and Louisville Clubs in the USA at the prestigious Kentucky Bluegrass Classic. Had the honour of judging Basenji Club Speciality. My judging thus far has led me to USA, New Zealand and all states of Australia. I have been an active member of several show committees and breed committees over the years including as Deputy Governing Councillor on the Canine Association Executive.
I have handled many breeds big and small in my business as a dog behaviourist especially when helping new exhibitors get started.
Looking forward to meeting many more exhibitors around the world.
